We begin by assessing how freely each joint moves - looking at your current range of movement to understand where restrictions may exist.
We then use our specialist muscle assessment to identify which muscles may not be activating as they should. During this process, we ask you to hold a specific joint position while we apply gentle pressure to the area. The position of the joint and the direction of the pressure determines which muscle we are targeting - essentially asking your body whether that muscle is functioning as it should.
If the muscle is functioning, you’ll be able to hold the joint still. If it moves under gentle pressure, that’s a sign the target muscle may not be activating as it should.
This process is methodical and precise. We work through the body systematically, building a clear picture of which muscles are functioning, which are not activating as they should, and which may be compensating as a result.
Once we’ve identified which muscles may not be activating as they should, the next step is reactivation.
This involves applying a gentle force at a very specific angle for a precise number of seconds. The goal is to encourage the nervous system to start communicating with the muscle again - to remind it, in effect, that it’s needed.
It’s a subtle process, but the results can be significant. When a muscle that may not have been activating properly starts to engage, the body begins to share the load more evenly. Compensation patterns reduce. Pressure on overworked muscles and joints eases.
This is not about pushing hard or working through discomfort. It’s about precision - finding the right angle, the right pressure, and giving the nervous system the right signal at the right time.
One of the challenges with rehab and recovery is knowing whether things are actually improving. Feeling better on a good day doesn’t always tell the full story.
This is why we track and record your progress throughout your programme. From your assessment onwards, we document our findings in detail - which muscles are responding, how your movement is changing, and how your body is adapting to the exercises we’ve introduced.
As your programme progresses, we reassess and compare. The changes become visible - not just in how you feel, but in what you’re able to do.
Joints that felt restricted begin to move more freely as the muscles around them start functioning correctly.
As the right muscles engage and strengthen, you’ll notice greater stability and control in everyday movement.
Movements that once felt difficult or uncomfortable become progressively easier as strength builds.
The activities that restrictions had put out of reach — sport, travel, time with family — start to become possible again.
Every session at Strength House is one to one. There are no classes, no shared equipment, no distractions - just you and your specialist, focused entirely on your programme.
Sessions are calm and methodical. We work at a pace that is right for your body, and we explain everything we’re doing and why. Many of our clients tell us that for the first time they feel they truly understand what has been affecting how their body functions - and what is being done to address it.
